"She had been living with the blinds down, windows and doors closed since the arrival of the great heatwaves. In spite of all her precautions to protect herself from the outside, the sandy winds had stained the tiles and seeped through the old window of the main room. (...)"

Excerpt from the exhibition text written by Anna Ternon

Camille Benarab-Lopez and Anna Ternon have combined their research into our relationships with indoor and outdoor spaces and the different ways we represent reality, which are our attempts to duplicate our surroundings in order to better understand them.

Within this framework, they have developed a series of works based on a fictional narrative that is the starting point for their project. The exhibition is permeated by the question of points of view, the notion of the threshold between closed spaces and the outside environment and how the outside seeps into confined spaces.

Les persiennes focuses their thoughts and actions on the filters that modify our perception of space, such as dividing up interior spaces, arranging private areas, mobile partitions, protective screens and screens for projection.

Camille Benarab-Lopez (France) was in residency as part of the programme of the Association des Anciens Elèves de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, France (2016).
