Zina Katz

VISUAL ARTS

Born in 1956 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Zina Katz is the daughter of 20th century European exiles from the textile industry and photography. Her work is the result of the interweaving of the social with the private. It combines the techniques and materials of drawing, photography and textiles.

Currently, her work focuses on exile and migration.

"A human being is lucky s´il has the "right" passport. To promote "chosen" immigration, sovereign states have reduced hospitality to utility issues. Qu´est what can l´art offer in response? What freedom do we have when hospitality depends on utility? What are we talking about when we talk about art in such a fragile situation?"
