Obituary

Madame Zo

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the disappearance of Madame Zo, a Malagasy weaving artist.

Recipient of the 4th edition of the PARITANA Prize supported by the Fondation H, she was to join us in Paris in the fall for a three-month residency.

Her works were exhibited as part of Madagascar, arts de la Grande Île exhibition at the Musée Quai Branly in 2018, earlier at the Tapestry Triennial in Poland (2007), at the National Museum of African Art in Washington DC (2004) and at the Dak'Art Biennial (2000 and 2002). Her weavings are today among the most emblematic Malagasy contemporary creations of recent years.

As an artist committed to eco-recovery, she liked to recall that "nothing is lost, everything becomes beautiful! ».

All our thoughts go to her family and loved ones.
She will be honoured.
