In a new collaboration, the artists Luise Schröder and Chedly Atallah cross their practices around personal and collective memories through the prism of the material: the stone. If stone is a symbol of longevity, hardness and solidity, it is here the crumbling of stories, a witness to the past and the raw material of a multitude of futures. During a residency at the Ateliers Médicis in 2022, the artists draw up the metaphor of a superimposition of layers of history of Clichy-sous-Bois / Montfermeil. Memories are intertwined: destructions, renovations, resistances, gentrifications, extensions of fictional and real territories...

Pierres sans répit is presented as a collection of objects and, in the face to face with the photographic archives, traces of forgotten histories, invisible and buried moments, are manifested. From the periphery to the center, and vice versa (images on the fence of the future metro station, flag at the Ateliers Médicis and stone at the Carnavalet Museum - History of Paris), Pierres sans répit weaves a strong link between the capital and the suburbs.

This work was created during a residency at the Ateliers Médicis and the exhibition was produced with the support of the Société du Grand Paris. Project carried out with the help of the Archives of the city of Clichy-sous-Bois, the Archives of the city of Montfermeil, the Public Land Establishment of Île-de-France - Great Works of Marseille, Rihab Abdessalem Kanouni and Moslem Mishmastnehi
