The City of La Rochelle – Maison des Écritures and the Cité internationale des arts are committed, with the Centre Intermondes, for the period 2020-2022, in a partnership to develop artistic and cultural exchanges. The aim is to implement a program of co-constructed and structuring residencies between artists from La Rochelle and artists of all nationalities hosted in residence at the Cité internationale des arts, with a priority focus on emerging artists.

The objectives of this partnership are to allow French artists - with particular attention paid to artists from overseas - and foreign artists who have not yet had access to national or international support (grants, competitions, etc.), to have access to work spaces and time, as well as professional support.

In keeping with their values of hospitality, the Cité internationale des arts, the Centre Intermondes - Maison des Écritures and Mille Plateaux - Centre Chorégraphique national La Rochelle wish to coordinate their actions in 2022 to welcome for a few months two Ukrainian artists (and cultural professionals) as well as Russian artists (and cultural professionals) impacted by the conflict in Ukraine.

This residency program will encourage the mobility of artists on the French territory, stimulate multidisciplinarity and exchanges between artistic practices and give visibility through in situ programming (galleries, auditorium and other exhibition spaces) and outside the walls.
