ADAGP x Cité internationale des arts

from 20 July to 16 September 2022

Links ( 1 ) Our partners

In order to encourage the mobility of French artists, the ADAGP and the Cité internationale des arts have joined forces to set up the second edition of a support program allowing an artist based outside of the Paris region to benefit from a three-month research residency and professional support from the Cité internationale des arts.

While public, associative and private initiatives have tended to rebalance the cultural disparities created by a geography that stayed centralized for too long, Paris remains a privileged place for encounters and opportunities.

In order to respond to the specific needs of artists wishing to nourish their artistic projects and their professional career with the Parisian context and network, this residency will be supported by the Cité internationale des arts team.

All the information and practical questions to read below (please consult these elements before submitting your application).

The residency

This program includes :

• A three-month residency at the Cité internationale des arts (site du Marais) from January 03rd, 2023 to March 28th, 2023.

• A living allowance of 2 000 euros /month.

• An artistic and professional accompaniment.

• Networking with all artists of all nationalities, disciplines and generations in residence, as well as with external professionals according to the projects of the laureate.

Eligibility and selection criteria

This program is open to artists in the field of visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, video, performance), residing in France but outside the Ile-de-France region and who are not represented by a gallery in the Ile-de-France region.

There is no age limit.

In addition to the evaluation of the candidate's professional career, the members of the jury, composed of qualified personalities, will pay particular attention to the artistic quality of the project, to the arguments presented on the added value of this perspective of residency in Paris, to the envisaged work protocol and to the contacts or partnerships already established.

Applications from artists who have already benefited from a residency at the Cité internationale des arts will not be given priority.

The live-in studio

With a surface area varying from 25 to 60m2, the workshop-houses are designed to combine production and daily life. They consist of a work room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a sleeping area.

A workshop can accommodate up to two adults and a child up to 7 years old.

Applications for groups must be made in the following manner, depending on the case:

• the project is common: a single application on behalf of both artists

• the projects are different: two separate applications must be submitted (please indicate in the "miscellaneous remarks" at the end of the form that you wish to share a studio and specify the name of the second applicant).

Applications for group projects involving more than two artists are exceptional due to the limited number of suitable studio apartments. The grant will be shared between the collaborators of the project.

Accessibility

We regret that the proposed studio apartments do not currently meet the current standards of accessibility for people with disabilities, and we are working on this for the future.

For any request concerning the accessibility of the spaces of the Cité internationale des arts, the Cité team is at your disposal to answer you on a case by case basis.
