2020 Residency Program

Cité internationale des arts & Centre national des arts plastiques

Deadline for application: August 16th, 2020 included

The Cité internationale des arts and the Centre national des arts plastiques have joined forces to create a unique residency program for curators and art critics from the French scene.

To begin the process of emerging from the crisis linked to the pandemic, this program is part of the support measures already taken. Its aim is to provide material and artistic support to these cultural players who are in a very precarious situation in these uncertain times.

The aim of this scheme is to offer exhibition curators and art critics a living and working space, financial support and a favourable artistic environment for a period of six months.

The Centre national des arts plastiques

The Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap) is one of the main operators of the policy of the Ministry of Culture in the field of contemporary visual arts. On behalf of the State, it enriches the Fonds national d’art contemporain, a national collection that it preserves and promotes through loans and deposits in France and abroad, partnership exhibitions and publications. With nearly 105,000 works acquired over more than two centuries from living artists, this collection is a representative collection of the variety of artistic currents.

As key cultural player, the Cnap encourages the artistic scene in all its diversity and supports artists and professionals through several support schemes. It also contributes to the promotion of the projects supported by the implementation of dissemination actions.

The Cité internationale des arts

The Cité internationale des arts is an artist's residency in the heart of Paris that brings together artists and allows them to implement a creation or research project in all disciplines.

Over periods of two months to a year, the Cité internationale des arts allows artists to work in an environment conducive to creation, open to encounters with professionals from the cultural milieu. Residents benefit from tailored support from the Cité internationale des arts team.

In the Marais or in Montmartre, the studio (living and creative space) from which the residents benefit allows them to cohabit with more than 300 artists and actors of the art world of all generations, all nationalities and all disciplines. In collaboration with its many partners, the Cité internationale des arts opens several thematic and/or project-based calls for applications throughout the year.
