Philippe Calia is an artist, photographer and filmmaker, based out of Bombay (India). His work, located somewhere between the documentary and the experimental, mostly revolves around notions of time, memory and history, with a focus on vernacular and unruly expressions. It has been exhibited internationally, in museums and cultural venues in cities like Belfast, Bombay, Lausanne, London, New Delhi, Paris and New York, and is held in private collections in India.
His engagement with the visual arts also takes shape through writing and education. Since 2013, he has been collaborating with PIX as a photo editor and researcher. In 2015 he co-founded BIND, a platform for photography in India, built around a photobook library.
