Simo Kellokumpu and Vincent Roumagnac

ri:vr [astrotrilogy 2]

22 et 23 avril de 15h à 19h30

Atelier 1535 - Cité internationale des arts

ri:vr is a project of performed installation in the continuation of Simo Kellokumpu's corpus of works on what he calls 'astroembodied choreostructions'; a series of choreographic works in which the questions of corporeality and embodiment materialize, beyond the human spatial scale, towards, and in, an intergalactic dimension.

In dialogue with contemporary science fiction, game art, queer theory, and monstrology, the process of creation is also informed by its geographic and cultural context, that of a two-month residence on the banks of the river Seine.

The Open Studio will be the opportunity to get closer, at the end of their two-month residency, to Kellokumpu & Roumagnac's work in progress, enmeshing fluvial movements, torrential satellite-bound data flow, and cellular becomings conditioned by algorithmic wire-speed.

ri:vr is the second part of the Astrotrilogy that started with the project pompom, which was realized in Tokyo in 2017 and shown in Tokyo and Helsinki in 2018. Astrotrilogy is a collaboration with French artist Vincent Roumagnac, in the continuation of Kellokumpu & Roumagnac's duo-collaboration, started in 2010.

The projet is generously supported The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), l'Institut Finlandais, the Fondation finlandaise de la Cité internationale des arts and the Performing Arts Research Centre/Uniarts Helsinki.

Simo Kellokumpu (Finland) and Vincent Roumagnac (France) are in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Fondation finlandaise de la Cité internationale des arts.
