Rehan Miskci

A Personal Archeology

Atelier 8419 - Cité internationale des arts

Rehan Miskci is a visual artist working in photography, video and installation, whose work deals with identity and memory in relation to physical space.

She has produced works regarding the connection between the history of Studio Photography and the Armenian identity. Her recent work, Foto Yeraz, is a fictitious photo studio where figures are absent, but the studio space as a physical entity becomes the subject.

Following the interest of making spatial objects into subjects, A Personal Archeology is an ongoing investigation in order to explore the notion of the fragment and its implications in various spatial settings. Similar to a minority identity experience, a fragment indicates a great deal of absence with its mere presence.

Rehan Miskci (Turkey) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Foundation for Culture and Art in Istanbul (IKSV).
