Born in 1985 in Zarand, Iran, Hura Mirshekari studied mathematics at Zābol before pursuing her passion for painting. She studied painting at the University of Sistan and Balochistan at Zāhedān with Iranian masters of art and signed both claimant and personal works.

In a context where women's artistic expression remains difficult and often censored, Hura Mirshekari gives voice, in her painting but also on stage, through her singing and performances. Her work, marked by the theme of women and the distinctive sign of the mask, quickly became a great success. She has won many awards, is exhibited in Iran and abroad, and also teaches visual arts to young children.

Her painting,'Look at Me', is presented as one of the major works of the 'Voices of Muslim Women' festival in California in 2011. In 2015, her painting, "After the War", was nominated for the Tehran Peace Festival in 2015, before being exhibited the same year.

Forced into exile since 2016, she resides in France at the Cité internationale des arts and has never stopped painting and seeking new forms of expression. In January 2018, her work "Execution" was chosen to be exhibited in the showcases of the Ministry of Culture, in the gardens of the Palais Royal. In November 2018, she exhibited a monumental portrait at the Palais de la Porte Dorée as part of the "Regarde-moi" exhibition.

Hura Mirshekari (Iran) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Institut français.
