Claudia-Maria Luenig

Les espaces abandonnés

Dimanche 28 et lundi 29 juillet, de 16h à 22h

Atelier 8402 – Cité internationale des arts

Claudia-Maria Luenig's work deals with the presence and absence of the body in both private and public spaces. The works - drawings and textile sculptures - illustrate metaphors of the body as well as the boundaries between the skin and the body (lived body). Absence is visualized by body objects, impressions and body shapes using textile materials and techniques.

During her four-month stay at the Cité internationale des arts, Claudia-Maria Luenig presents Les espaces abandonnés, drawings, a series of photographs and objects considered as works in progress. They all deal with deserted spaces, objects and traces of their immediate environment and the paths taken by the artist.

Claudia-Maria Luenig studied art in Canberra and Melbourne (Australia). She has lived and worked in Vienna (Austria) since 1999. She has also curated numerous exhibitions and has been running the autonomous exhibition space basement in Vienna since 2004.

Claudia-Maria Luenig (Austria) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the Department of Arts and Culture of the Austrian Federal Chancellery.
