Bochra Taboubi and Ana Vila met during their residencies at the Cité internationale des arts. While discussing both their techniques and their universes, they were immediately eager to cross their work.
In particular, they noticed that they both have a particular interest in creating an imaginary visual world by focusing intuitively on the sensuality of organic textures and forms. The world they have created is a dialogue between two different practices, between nature and artifacts, drawing and painting, colours and lines.
A true union has occurred between the two works, the imaginary, visceral and primitive forms that Bochra Taboubi draws with lines and textures inspired by the depths of the sea; and the presence of the material in the technique that Ana Vila has been intuitively using for ten years, which is inspired by industrial painting transformed into different organic forms.
By subjectively contributing their processes, a common platform was born. This new practice, which has undergone the pressure of colours and lines, creates another piece of semiotic language with references from different parts of the world. The works that the two artists have created interact over time, following a tangle of sedimentation, creating a kind of "stratigraphic" fossils.
This experience is an exploration of material and graphic texture.
