Derrière les mots

Palais de la Porte Dorée

For those who come from elsewhere, a new language or another way of speaking a language is a world to be appropriated, made up of paths of new thoughts and images, of meanders and emptiness. Whoever lends himself to literary exercise in a foreign language is led to play with the rules and customs established to explore words, infusing them with movements that regenerate them. As for translation, by ensuring the transition from one language to another, it involves taking possession and recomposition, at the cost of shifts and loss of meaning.

With the author and journalist Cristina Ali Farah (Italy/Somalia), the slammer Vhan Olsen Dombo (Congo Brazzaville), the performer Kubra Khademi* (Afghanistan), the linguist Pierre Manen (Jean Monnet University, Saint Étienne/France), the translator Lotfi Nia (Algeria/France).
