With the new creation Hadra, choreographer Alexandre Roccoli opens a new cycle. Originally created for the Moroccan dancer Yassine Aboulakoul and then joined by his brother Youness, the piece affirms the powers of the desire to dance.

For Hadra, solo created in 2017 at the Musée de l'Histoire de l'immigration, Alexandre Roccoli draws his inspiration from the source of dances of possession as they may have appeared in Morocco, particularly in Gnawa brotherhoods but also in certain more urban contemporary cultures, from hip hop to house music. By playing with the repetition of movements and sounds, Alexandre Roccoli produces a circular, hypnotic and magnetic aesthetic where the body is gripped by the vertigo of dance. Between a state of grace and a state of shock, the energy and virtuosity of the young Moroccan dancers Yassine and Youness Aboulakoul convey a mad desire to dance. This project opens a new series that works on the question of the so-called "graceful" body on stage.

Alexandre Roccoli will also present his creation Hadra at the Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration, at the Manège - Scène Nationale de Reims, at the Napoli Teatro Festival, Italy, then at the Djerba Festival, Tunisia.
