Daniel Horowitz

4+4

from 26 January to 21 February 2019

Galerie RX, Paris

4+4 was conceived as an invitation to 4 personalities from the art world to appropriate one of the 4 exhibition rooms of the RX Gallery. Each guest organizes a solo exhibition of an artist in the chosen space.

As part of this third edition, 4+4 is structured around 4 curatorial guests who propose 4 solo exhibitions of artists:

Bénédicte Alliot l Daniel Horowitz (discussion between the curator and the artist on Saturday, February 16, at 4pm)
Chantal Colleu- Dumond l Christian Lapie
Robert Fleck l Monika Kus-Picco
Olivier Kaeppelin l Louise Tilleke

Inspired by the sketches of "Savages" from Theodore de Bry's (1528-1598) Great and Short Trips, Daniel Horowitz explores in this new corpus the tenuous relationship that exists between oneself and others. Created as part of his residency at the Cité internationale des arts, his works on canvas once again reveal "the wild thought" that is present in all of us and dear to Claude Lévi-Strauss. These composite "collage canvases", worked with a sewing machine, summon up the unconscious of a collective memory and compose a metaphysics of the human soul, which Daniel Horowitz never stops exploring as he works.

A discussion between Daniel Horowitz and Bénédicte Alliot will take place on Saturday, February 16, at 4pm.

Daniel Horowitz (United States) is a recipient of the Visual Arts Committees of the Cité internationale des arts. For this exhibition, he is accompanied by Bénédicte Alliot, General Director of the Cité internationale des arts.
