The Académie des beaux-arts encourages the practice of drawing, a fundamental gesture in artistic creation, by organizing each year the Pierre David-Weill Drawing Prize - Académie des beaux-arts created in 1971 by Pierre David-Weill, member of the Academy and major patron. For more than forty years, this prize has been supported by Michel David-Weill, his son, a member of the Academy.

Intended for French and foreign artists (residing in France) under forty years of age, this call is endowed with three prizes: 8,000 euros, 4,000 euros and 2,000 euros. The exhibition presented from March 28 to April 13, 2019 at the Cité internationale des arts will unveil the works of the recipients, as well as the drawings of the candidates who attracted the attention of the jury composed of members of the painting, sculpture and engraving sections of the Académie des beaux-arts.
