As part of the 26th Festival de l'imaginaire organized by the Maison des cultures du monde - Centre français du patrimoine culturel immatériel, the Cité internationale des arts, in partnership with the Laboratoire d'Aubervillers, presents Danse en résistance : le patrimoine immatériel en mouvement.
Curated by Margot Videcoq (Director of the Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers) and Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez (Head of Artistic and Cultural Programming at the Cité internationale des arts), the 19th Day of the Material Heritage, Danse en résistance : le patrimoine immatériel en mouvement, offers a time of reflection focused on dances of resistance and commitment.
In repressive or discriminatory contexts, dance discourse and the dancing body can become powerful expressive vectors, at once rhetorical, emotional and cathartic. In what way can certain dances become a factor of emancipation and a lever of claim from issues of defense? How does their recognition as ICH impact and metamorphose practices in return? By placing at the heart of the device the lived experience and the participation of the actors, holders of heritage, what can be the ambiguities or the tensions between practices of resistance and their patrimonialization in connection with state or international institutions? What singular spaces are constructed to defend, transmit and develop dances in resistance?
At the crossroads of different approaches, this edition proposes to explore the way in which certain dances in resistance travel and circulate by conveying the knowledge, histories and memories with which they are associated, while being re-appropriated and recreated in different contexts. Two main subjects will be explored during this time of reflection punctuated by performances: on the one hand, the question of time by questioning the traces and memories transmitted by the choreographic experience; on the other hand, the question of space by exploring the dances in travel and circulation.

Dale Blackheart, born as David Leach in Baltimore, Maryland, is an American dancer, choreographer and performer.
Dale has taught vogue classes for all ages, appeared in music videos, and has also acted, choreographed, and performed in theater shows such as Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror (2015) and Evanescent (2020). He has also trained in baroque during his travels.
Dale Blackheart (USA) is in residence as part of the "2-12" programme at the Cité internationale des arts.
Born in Seville in 1994, Paula Comitre joined the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía in 2013 until 2016. In 2017, she begins her solo career making her debut at Tablao Flamenco Los Gallos and she joins David Coria's company and Rafaela Carrasco's company the same year, as a solo dancer and choreographer. In February 2020, she presented her first solo show, Cámara abierta, at the XXIV edition of the Jerez Festival, where she won the Revelation Award. That same year, she participated in the show ¡Fandango! by David Coria & David Lagos, as an assistant rehearsal director and dancer. This show was co-produced by the Théâtre national de Chaillot in Paris.
In September 2020, she presented Electroflamenco de Artomático at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla and received the Giraldillo Revelation Award of this festival. In February 2022, she unveils her second show, Alegorías (El límite y sus mapas), created in collaboration with the contemporary dancer Lorena Nogal, at the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris, counting on the co-production of the latter.
