Olivier Marin has long been fascinated by Japanese culture, which provides the inspiration for his new piece entitled Undō (which means ‘‘movement’’ in Japanese). It is based on the Record of a Weather-Exposed Skeleton by Matsuo Bashõ (1644-1694), a sensitive and subtle collection of poems that recount the poet’s first initiatory journey through Japan.
Undō was composed and is interpreted by Olivier Marin, in collaboration with Vincent Fliniaux (sound design), Jullian Hoff and David Arango Valencia (videos).
Olivier Marin (France) is a recipient of the Cité internationale des arts Music Committee.
