Thinking of how to host an open studio during total confinement, Lukas Zerbst proposes a different departure point to share his practice and works in progress during his residency.

He will be in conversation with fellow resident Reem Shadid engaging with thoughts around ‘involuntary complicity’ in artistic and exhibition practices.

The conversation will raise questions generally around the relationship between artists, artworks, audience and institutions and the legal and social contracts they commit to together (directly and indirectly). They will focus on works that are site specific and subserviently critical of the power dynamics and institutional structures that seek to hold control, but inadvertently enable exchange of ideas and experiences not always under their control.

Lukas Zerbst and Reem Shadid will have a 20 minutes conversation followed by a public digital discussion and Q&A.
