Breathe Out

Atelier 8402 – Cité internationale des arts

Breathe Out explores heartbeat and breathing as synonymous with social and political action. This project is organized by resident curator Claudia Arozqueta and is based on her research on vital signs in the visual, media and sound arts. 

 

Claudia Arozqueta has curated exhibitions for the Blue Star Museum (USA); Muca Roma (MX); National Centre for Contemporary Arts Moscow (UK); Artspace Auckland (NZ) and other international venues. She regularly collaborates with Artforum, Art-Agenda, Frieze, etc. She is currently based in Sydney.

 

Participants :

Juan Fabuel (Spain) uses fiction as an effective tool to talk about reality and representativeness. He has exhibited at Treasure Hill Artist Village (TW), Bancaja Foundation (SP), Noorderlicht International Photofestival (NL), Belvedere Museum (AUT), Pascal Janssens Gallery (BEL), etc.

 

Stefanie Knobel (Switzerland) works in the fields of choreography, performance and writing. She has exhibited at FRAC Lorraine Metz (FR), Aargauer Kunsthaus (CH), Künstlerhaus Bremen (DE), Helmhaus Zurich (CH), Center for Contemporary Art Ancient Bath (BGR), Athens Biennale (GR), etc. 

 

Rodrigo Azaola (Mexico) is an artist and writer who works at the intersection of art, historical narratives and international relations. He has exhibited at the Museo Jumex (MX); C3 Contemporary (AUS); Santa Monica Barcelona Art Center (SP); CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts (USA); Havana Biennial (CUB), etc.

 


Claudia Arozqueta (Australia) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the University of New South Wales - Art and Design (UNSW) programme.

 

Stefanie Knobel (Switzerland) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Canton of Aargau.
