Marwan Moujaes

Marwan Moujaes is a Lebanese artist living and working in Europe since 2014.

He teaches contemporary drawing at the Sorbonne School of Arts where he is also a PhD student in plastic arts. His thesis entitled Transfiguration of Pain: Grieving Landscapes in Contemporary Art studies the transformation of historical mourning into an experience in art.

His artistic practice proceeds through the misuse of symbolic codes and allegorical structures to reconfigure the objective reality of a mourning world. He proceeds by delegation, infiltration, appropriation and erasure and produces in collaboration with painters, astronomers, animals and gardens. Marwan Moujaes holds a master's degree in painting from the Lebanese University in Beirut (2014), a DNSEP from ESAD in Valenciennes (2016) and a master's degree in Creation and Contemporary Plasticity from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2017).
