Between care and solicitude, the notion of care invites a transversal reflection on our society. In a global context of "care crisis", it is important to revalue and politicize care by exploring the forms and relationships to which it can give rise.

With this exhibition activated by performances, discussions and workshops, Canadian curator Christine Shaw invites artists (Stephanie Comilang, Steven Eastwood, Jeneen Frei Njootli, Sheena Hoszko, Kwentong Bayan Collective, Hazel Meyer and Cait McKinney, Raju Rage and Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory) working elsewhere in the world to introduce new tools for exploring care in the French context. These artists exhibit their work for the first time in France and offer new perspectives on the precariousness of work, medical and prison institutions, migration, and environmental management.

They thus question us on how art, activism, collective self-help, feminist practices, queer culture, indigenous knowledge, or a closer relationship to the land, can contribute to a better recognition of care as a social and cultural force.

Sculptor and anti-prison activist, Sheena Hoszko will focus her lecture on "art and prison" and the limits of the care it involves. Her work is based on long-term research into the power dynamics of geographical, architectural and psychological sites, and draws on her own family's experiences with incarceration and migration.

As part of her exhibition, she will be present at the Cité internationale des arts for a get-togethers around her work on March 11.

Sheena Hoszko (Canada) is a recipient of the Visual Arts Committees of the Cité internationale des arts.
