Comme un parfum d'aventure

from 16 December 2020 to 18 July 2021

Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon

Comme un parfum d'aventure is an exhibition on the experience of moving, between will and constraint, conceived from works and objects of art, from Antiquity to the present day, chosen from the collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon. It is also an opportunity to invite more than twenty artists living in France, particularly in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, to present works of art or to produce new pieces.

This exhibition, directly inspired by the recent collective and global experience of confinement imposed for health reasons and almost concomitantly on a majority of people on the planet, explores more specifically the question of displacement, whether prevented or imposed, voluntary or induced, individual or group, and its consequences on the individual. It takes the form of an investigation through time by drawing on the collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the macLYON, while placing works borrowed or created specifically by artists residing in France, or even in a geography close to the macLYON, on display.

Through their own movements in the exhibition and experience of the works, visitors will be led to question the links between political ideologies, economic systems, climate change and migratory movements. This new MAC/MBA collaboration is part of Lyon's art museum cluster and a desire to actively support the French art scene.
