La Terrasse espace d'art presents Réunions, a monographic exhibition of Samuel GELAS, curated by Régine Cuzin, specialist in overseas artists and director of the OCEA association.
From his first paintings, Samuel Gelas has been interested in the actions and lifestyles of the different social groups he observes in the places where he lives and works, in Guadeloupe, Paris or elsewhere. With large-format canvases in bright colours and evocative titles, painted in black stone and acrylic, this portrait painter depicts reality and caricature, sometimes the contradictions of the human species.
An important series in Samuel Gelas' production, class portraits allow us to discover several axes dear to the artist related to the ages of life and the relationship between the individual and the collective. He presents 3 new paintings from this series on the Terrasse.
