The Forum des images is organizing the fourth edition of the NewImages Festival. This event brings together professionals and artists involved in digital creation as well as all those with a curiosity to explore the virtual world.
At the Forum des images and outside the walls, in the heart of Paris, online and on virtual platforms, NewImages Festival continues to play the role of talent scout for new artistic horizons. With the same objective: to democratize the new uses, to make accessible the new forms of creation and to allow everyone to appropriate them.
Xabiso Vili and Sonwabo Valashiya, two artists in residency at the Cité internationale des arts, present during this festival the exhibition Re/Member Your Descendants.
This exhibition (the result of their residency at the Digital Lab Africa, in partnership with Cité) tells African stories in a completely new way. Through a series of interviews with South Africans, Xabiso Vili, in collaboration with Sonwabo Valashiya, seeks to embody a spiritual dimension in the physical world. Thanks to augmented reality, their stories are enriched, illustrated by those of their ancestors, recited in the form of poetry.
