The Seconde peau exhibition, the first in a series of exhibitions at the NetGallery, is the new project of the Czech Center in Paris dedicated to contemporary art and the dialogue between the Czech and French art scenes.
"Whatever we do and wherever we go, we are part of a complex network of invisible relationships and interconnections in our daily lives. In the deepest layers of this vast labyrinth there is something special hidden, something we might call the technological subconscious of our online world. It is as if our natural perception is in constant contact with this autonomous structure that organizes information independently of us. It is us, and yet we sometimes feel as if something else is deciding for us, as if someone is quietly whispering to us what to think, what to feel, what to desire and what to fear.
We ride the waves of this vast communication infrastructure that stretches from the bottom of the ocean to the landscape in which we live to the sky. It tries to discover who we are and what we do, to estimate what emotional state we are in right now and to predict our next moves. It affects us, becomes something like our second skin, co-creating our emotions, altering our memories, changing our inclinations, all of this happens very subtly, in a way that makes us wonder how much of it is still us and how much we take for granted what is written inside us by something or someone outside of us." – Simona Dvořáková
