Grégoire Rousseau

The Coming Community

from 13 to 28 November 2020

En ligne | Online - HFBK Hamburg

Grégoire Rousseau, artist in residency at the Cité internationale des arts, has been involved in the preparation of the performative group exhibition The Coming Community.

Originally planned to be held at Coco Velten in Belsunce, Marseille (November 13-28 2020) as part of Manifesta 13, The Coming Community was born from the meeting of two curatorial duos based in France and Switzerland. It is a proposal by Ex Situ and the curatorial duo Gabrielle Boder and Tadeo Kohan, in collaboration with Station of Commons (Grégoire Rousseau and Juan Gomez).

The project presents artists from Switzerland, France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Russia around the issues of the fortuitous and ephemeral encounter. Inspired by the thought of Giorgio Agamben, the exhibition focuses on the question of the formation of "scattered, temporary and nomadic" communities (to use the philosopher's words) linked to creative and curatorial processes. Produced especially for the exhibition, the works of the guest artists - sculptures, installations, video - have in common a certain relationship to movement and speech, often animated by performance.

In the context of the current situation, the project takes on in multiple digital and textual media: The Comming Community invites you to participate in the next online appointment HERE!

Grégoire Rousseau (France) is a recipient of the Cité internationale des arts Visual Arts Committees.
