Born in 1982, Eric Andriantsialonina, aka Dwa, lives in Antananarivo, Madagascar, where he works as an independent artist.

A self-taught comic strip and travel journal artist, Dwa has written numerous comic books set in Madagascar. In 2018, he won the PARITANA Prize 2nd edition for Malagasy contemporary art.

EMPREINTES presents works that Dwa created during his residency at the Cité internationale des arts and includes large-format illustrations shown in public for the first time. In addition to revealing the scale of his drawings and the development of a comic book narrative, the exhibition reveals his unique approach to drawing that results from walking in the streets of Antananarivo, the people he meets in the Madagascar bush and his residency in Paris. Here Dwa brings a new aesthetic form to his art.

To close this event and his artistic stay in Paris, a meeting with the artist will take place on December 4 at 7pm in the Corridor of the Cité internationale des arts.
