At a time when many filmmakers are presenting their work in galleries and museums and when, conversely, the work of many visual artists is entering cinemas, how does the encounter between these different artistic disciplines influence the questions of form, narrative and production methods?
To discuss this topic, the Cité internationale des arts, in its role as a partner of the pan-African film cycle Tigritudes * 1956-2021 at the Forum des Images, is organising a moment of exchange between its residents and participants in the Tigritudes cycle:
- Allia Louiza Belamri, Algerian artist and filmmaker (Unique DZ, Lipstick Choice, Tifardoud se raconte, Sorry Mom).
(Resident in 2022).
- Wally Fall, Senegalese-Martinican filmmaker and founder of the Cinémawon collective (Ceew Mi, Fouyé Zetwal: 23/02 Forum des Images at 6.30 pm).
- Hamedine Kane, Senegalese-Mauritanian artist and director, founder of the School of Mutants collective (La Maison Bleue, À l'ombre de nos fantômes: 20/02 Forum des Images at 5.30 pm).
(Resident in 2021).
- Michelange Quay, Haitian-American filmmaker and video artist (Mange, ceci est mon corps, L'évangile du cochon créole: 23/02 Forum des Images at 6.30 pm).
In the presence of the Tigritudes cycle’s directors and programmers, Dyana Gaye and Valérie Osouf, who are currently in residence at the Cité internationale des arts.
The meeting will be moderated by curator and researcher Farah-Clémentine Dramani-Issifou.
