Wura-Natasha Ogunji

Wura-Natasha Ogunji is a visual artist and performer. Her works include drawings hand-stitched into tracing paper, videos and public performances.  Her work is deeply inspired by the daily interactions and frequencies that occur in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, from the epic to the intimate. Wura-Natasha Ogunji's performances explore the presence of women in public space; these often include investigations of labor, leisure, freedom and frivolity.

For her residency, she will create a memoir of Lagos in the form of large-scale drawings and hand-stitched texts.  Parallel to these investigations, she will develop a series of workshops which explore and expand the genre of memoir through collective performances which focus on language and mark-making; family histories and body memory; utopias and their opposites.
