On the initiative and with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the Cité internationale des arts, an artistic residency centre welcoming artists of all generations, nationalities and practices, is launching a programme of research and creative residencies dedicated to women photographers in mid-career, to offer them a new professional springboard. The programme is also supported by the Neuflize OBC Corporate Foundation and ADAGP.
The residency programme is aimed at photographers who identify themselves as women on the French photography scene and have at least ten years' professional experience.
For this first edition, six winners will benefit from a three-month residency, divided into two sessions: from 04 April to 27 June 2024, and from 02 September to 27 November 2024. They will also benefit from the support of a mentor and a living allowance of €2,000 per month.
Following a call for applications launched on 10 July 2023 and closed on 17 September 2023, a committee of qualified personalities examined all the applications. In addition to assessing the candidates' professional backgrounds, the members of the jury paid particular attention to the quality of the project, the need for an artistic residency in Paris and the working protocol envisaged.
