Continuing its collaboration with the Artothèque de la Réunion, in October the Cneai welcomed the artist Geneviève Alaguiry (or Genathéna, an artistic alias she willingly uses) for a production residency, in partnership with the Cité internationale des arts.
Geneviève Alaguiry's work - expressed through drawing, sculpture, performance and video - explores the concepts of intimacy and extimity. The construction of the social subject is approached from the angle of fragility, a central theme and understood in both a physical and psychological sense, and raises questions about possible modes of relationship in a society considered individualistic or even alienating.
In her open studio, Geneviève Alaguiry presents all the productions from her residency: a sculpture, a filmed performance and a set of drawings, which jointly reflect on the notion of identity.
Geneviève Alaguiry (France) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the Cneai program.
