Mary Sherman & Mathieu Corajod

A mechanical, electric-acoustic collaboration

Thursday, August 22 2019, at 07:30 pm

Studio 1 - Cité internationale des arts

Composer Mathieu Corajod and multidisciplinary artist Mary Sherman, both residents of the Cité internationale des arts, teamed up during their stay to create a collaborative work: Sound creation by Corajod; painting, lighting and mechanics by Sherman.

For their open studio, they will present a "concert", starting with a new variation of the mechanical performance Eri, After Dark (a collaboration between Sherman and the French composer Benoit Granier), followed by a screening of a Corajod music and dance creation following his stay at Ircam. Then, after a short break, the event will end with the unveiling of the new piece that Corajod and Sherman are currently working on.

As the (short) works are based on time, the first concert will start quickly, after a brief introduction, at 7:40 pm, and will be followed by a second performance at 8:20 pm. The artists (and their work) will be available to discuss their work at the end of the event.

Mary Sherman (United States) is a recipient of the Visual Arts Commissions of the Cité internationale des arts.

Mathieu Corajod (Switzerland-France) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the canton de Berne.
