For this open Studio, Charles Prime's intention is to show his current work, in the continuity of his research on landscape painting in recent years. While continuing to represent natural sites, he now focuses his attention on the interaction of characters with the landscape.
With the help of disparate photographic elements (natural sites, contemporary characters, objects, vegetation, panels...) he reconstructs scenes that are mostly beautiful memories of travel, hiking, camping, or exploration. Through his compositions, Charles Prime highlights the contrast between the immutability of landscapes and the immediacy of any human activity. The sublime nature of the places is very often short-circuited or accentuated by the lightness, absurdity or intimacy of a human scene of our time. His compositions reveal a "before", "after" or "during", they initiate a narrative, and they date the landscape. The landscape is both painted for itself but also serves as a setting for a scene, as in the cinema.
