Bich Phuong Le Hoang is a visual artist based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. For her, art is an outlet and a way to express her concerns about sexuality and eccentricity. Since recently, she has turned to other themes such as nature, time, space and social consciousness in Vietnam. She uses traditional Vietnamese silk painting as her main medium, but is still experimenting with new materials that could become a new language in her art.

Between July and September 2018, Bich-Phuong Le Hoang developed her project WALKING AROUND WITH PINK CLOUDS ON MY HEAD, an installation made from old clothes, labels, steel wires and polyester. This project is about people, society, consumer culture and the conflict of distinction and identity. For this artwork, she wondered about the functioning of the society in Vietnam and other countries. According to Bich-Phuong Le Hoang, this system is good for everyone and for herself, but it is like a mouse trap. The more we earn, the more we spend. We suffer and struggle every day to stay somewhere.

Bich-Phuong Le Hoang (Vietnam) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the program of the Institut français.
