studio 5 - Cité internationale des arts

For their open studio, Sophie - Eun Sun Huh, Ana Vila and Julia Klemm are working on an installation that shows a dialogue between their different ways of applying layers of paint and material, and the different reasons for their constructions.

Sophie - Eun Sun Huh uses multiple layers of hydro-lacquer paint that are superimposed and eroded. The colours for the artist are also associated with psychological effects, it links the colour blue to silence. In this last episode of the series, she emphasizes the direction of silence. She finds silence as a sound that also has directionality.
Sophie - Eun Sun Huh (France) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Institut des arts plastiques de Pusan.

Ana Vila exhibits her recent work at the Cité internationale des arts. She decides to build painted objects by making a layer for each day of her residence using a French industrial paint. She works with brush strokes, disordered brush strokes combined with her brilliant enamel material. Some on the atmosphere of Parisian architecture.

Julia Klemm also exhibits her artworks created during her residency, mental layers of materials in dialogue with enamel and used ceramic objects she finds at Paris flea markets. Cracks, articulated objects, metamorphosed objects.

Coming from East and West, the three artists unite towards different layers of deconstruction and construction of matter in dialogue with their experience in the city.
