Atelier 2056 - Cité internationale des arts

Alexandra Deutsch's biomorphic paper and textile objects reflect the basic forms of life, structures and growth rates as well as landscape formations. At the same time, these objects keep their secrets and can be interpreted in various ways.

In previous years, Alexandra Deutsch has collaborated several times with dancers who, by synchronizing with her flying objects, brought out an additional story, such as a dialogue between these objects and the human body.

Inspired by the underwater world, the mare_mundus project presented at the Cité internationale des arts approaches the elementary senses of the sea for life. Diversity, subtle movement in space, the beauty of the unknown, the enigmatic and dangerous, the unity of nature are some of the aspects that can come to mind. Sketches will show the possibilities of an encounter between sculpture and the human body.

Alexandra Deutsch (Germany) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral Cultural Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate.
