Skin Deep Beauty series was inspired by the colour blindness of the artist Tatsuma Takeda and also 17th century still life paintings of flowers in which the artists tried to capture transient nature of beauty and express a utopia with various kind of flowers.
The flowers in these paintings each have different habitats and seasons; however, they coexist in the same space and are painted as a sort of utopia without hierarchy.
Tatsuma Takeda (Japon) is in residency at the Cité internationale des arts through the dedicated programme with Shell Art Award.
