The performance By Sound is the result of a collaboration between two artists of Chilean origin: the composer Pablo Garretón, in residency at the Cité internationale des arts, and the visual artist Martín Kaulen, who lives in Paris.
In By Sound, they experiment with the way sound acts on material supports, using vibration as a means of moving objects. The sound of the synthesizers, thanks to transducers and a felt pen that marks the path, is translated into a drawing made in real time. The idea is to generate a performative moment where the ephemeral characteristic of the sound can be recorded in time.
The research aims to generate a transmedia process where one medium expresses itself through the other.
