Maurício Pokemon is a photographer and visual artist from Piauí/Brazil, pretty much influenced by his relation with skateboarding. Graduated in journalism, he's photographer and editor in the Revestrés Magazine. Maurício Pokemon is resident artist of CAMPO Contemporary Art, an autonomous and collaborative space in Teresina-PI dedicated to Art and (in)disciplines related to it.

Awarded for the Rumos Itaú Cultural 2017-2018 and Chico Albuquerque 2019 programs, Maurício Pokemon works mapping images and symbols of the region and portrays people in everyday situations, to expand reflection on representativeness and community.

With Campo and Demolition Incorporada Maurício has been carrying out a research work on Photography in the Performing Arts, having photos published in several countries, such as Brazil, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan and others.

In 2019, he started in Brazil and Uruguay a research about work and the movements involved on it, based on videos, photos, self-portraits, writings and other manual experiments. In residency at the Cité internationale des arts since December, Maurício Pokemon has gone deeper on this investigation, walking around the city, observing and thinking specially about some kind of works related to repetition and insistence. The process, still non named, echoes the question: "What movements do we need for survival?"

In this open studio, the artist will be also showing his new book Inventário verde da boa esperença (2019), that was developed between CAMPO and Boa Esperança region, through residencies and meetings with artists and community.

Maurício Pokemon (Brazil) is in residency at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the City of Paris.
