Mario B. Schneider

Mario B. Schneider is a photographic artist, a graduate of both the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles.

Their practice revolve around long contemplative walks to explore urban spaces. It is based on an apprehension of the world through a particular approach of the gaze. The whole of their work is part of a questioning on our link to territories, whether it is a series on abandoned places, the representations of buildings by Google maps and especially Chaosmos. This series is composed of frontal and pure roadside photographs, and draws the portrait of a city of great architectural uniformity, evoking a desert city on the edge of fantasy.

Their work has been exhibited in 2012 at the Rencontres d'Arles and at the French Institute of Helsinki, in 2015 at the Triennale Photographie et Architecture de Bruxelles and in 2016 at the Salon de Montrouge. In 2018, their work can be seen at ARCO Madrid, Arts Libris in Barcelona, and at the French Institute of Madrid (PHoto España). Mario B. Schneider has been in residence at the MAC de Créteil, Villa de Belleville, and artist member at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid in 2017 / 2018. In October 2020, the artist is invited to exhibit at the exhibition R.A.U #5 in Tourcoing.
