COMPOSITION

 

Louis Goldford is a composer of acoustic and mixed music. Originally from Saint-Louis, in the United States, he was inspired by the transcription, the auditory illusion, the psychoanalysis and the paradoxes of his education in the American Midwest. 

 

Recent performances include Yarn/Wire, JACK Quartet, Dal Niente Ensemble, Modelo62 Ensemble, Meitar Ensemble and Rage Thormbones. Louis Goldford was recipient of the 2017 Suzhou Commission Prize, and in 2018, he returned to IRCAM for his studies in computer composition and music. Upcoming shows include a commission from ASCAP/SEAMUS and a book to be published for the Fonema Consort in March 2019.

 

Louis Goldford is the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship. His works have been performed in the United States, Europe and Asia, as well as at numerous international contemporary music festivals. He is currently Dean of Columbia University, where his principal professors are Georg Friedrich Haas, Zosha Di Castri, Brad Garton, George Lewis and Fred Lerdahl. Louis has participated in other lessons and masterclasses led by Brian Ferneyhough, Philippe Leroux, Yan Maresz, Chaya Czernowin, and Magnus Lindberg.
