Le court en dit long Festival #29

Bicephalous version: CWB & Cité internationale des arts

from 01 to 05 June 2021

Centre Wallonie Bruxelles & Cité internationale des arts

Since 1993, the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles/ Paris has organized the Festival Le Court en dit long, dedicated to short films produced and co-produced in Wallonia and Brussels during the year. Since 2003, the selection of unreleased films has become competitive. The CDL is an opportunity to see new productions from film schools (INSAS, IAD, La Cambre, Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard) in fiction, animation and experimental film, as well as from production workshops (Caméra-etc., Zorobabel) and independent productions, supported or not by the Film Commission of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

This year, thirty-two new films – the majority of which are by women directors – are selected for competition.

Since last year, the Festival Le Court en dit long has become a hybrid and is also taking place in cyberspace. For the first time, the Festival offers a selection of French-speaking Belgian web-series, supported by the RTBF, digital fiction department, which will be accessible in France and in Belgium during the whole Festival.

In a logic of deterritorialization of the CDL, the Satellites of the competition will be held this edition outside the walls, at the Cité internationale des arts.

Two installations irrigating the formal languages of the moving image: Dead Star Funeral by Stéphanie Roland and Metaphora (Blue to which we belong) by Camille Pradon – artist in residency at the Cité internationale des arts – will be on view in the Corridor between June 1st and 5th, 2021.

The space also becomes a space for viewing and listening to a selection of web-series, and Podcasts.

Finally, on Saturday, June 5th, prior to the announcement of the Awards, two professional meetings will be held on the challenges of web-series, short formats in television and possible connections with cinema, and another meeting hosted by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni, on the workshop on acting for the camera that they will hold all week and their artistic complicity.

The proclamation of the Prize List and the awarding of the prizes will be followed by a replay of the winning films (with English subtitles).
