Shrimps Society is an independent, aquarium-sized travelling exhibit that is home to thirteen shrimps of the neocaridina palmate or White Pearl species. The curator Andy Rankin has invited three artists to present works in this exhibition space, whilst respecting the needs and health of its occupants to ensure they live out their natural life span.
Every three to four weeks, the guest artists will present an experience, a visit and various artistic proposals to the shrimps confined in this space. These living creatures – a totally new, marine public, who are particularly attentive and meticulous with regard to their environment – will therefore become critics as they consider the ecosystems proposed successively by Mahalia Kohnke-Jehl (January 31st to February 13th), César Bardoux (February 14th to March 4th) and the recipient artist of the Cité internationale des arts Visual Arts Committees, Anna Ternon (March 5th to 28th).
Andy Rankin (France) is recipient of the "Cité internationale des arts & the Centre national des arts plastiques" programme.
