"The tiger does not proclaim its tigritude, it pounces on its prey and devours it." - Wole Soyinka, Nobel Prize for Literature

The directors, Dyana Gaye (Un transport en commun, Des étoiles) and Valérie Osouf (Cameroun : Autopsie d'une indépendance, Abderrahmane Sissako : Par-delà les Territoires), are the programmers of Tigritudes, a subjective and chronological anthology of Pan-African cinema, born of their crossed views and a common cinephilia.
Initiated as part of the Africa2020 Season, co-produced by the Forum des images and supported by the Cité internationale des arts, this cycle of unprecedented scope will open up a vast field of reflection, crossing whole swathes of history and narratives, questioning reality and its representations, and deconstructing the imaginary about it.

Through 126 films, 40 countries and 66 years of cinema history, Tigritudes 1956-2021 draws a subjective and chronological pan-African anthology.

A chronological program, accompanied by cross-disciplinary discussions between artists and intellectuals from different disciplines — including two talks in the presence of Bénédicte Alliot (director general of the Cité internationale des arts) on February 11th and 26th, 2022 –, 2 master classes and 6 film lessons, to reflect the circulation of forms and ideas on the continent.
