Moroccan photographer Yoriyas Yassine Alaoui, 34, is the 2019 recipient of the Société des amis de l'IMA - Prize for Young Contemporary Arab Creation.
As part of his prize, Yoriyas Yassine Alaoui is receiving a three-month residency at the Cité internationale des arts and a grant to produce a series of unpublished photographs. These are presented in the exhibition "Football and the Arab World".
For three months, "Football and the Arab World" focuses on 11 journeys into history, with photographs, archival extracts, interviews and documentaries.
What role do the countries of the Arab world play in the world of football? Who are the major players in this sport in this region of the world? These questions will be answered with concrete examples, while the 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA Women's World Cup will set the pace for the Arab World Institute's programming.
In addition to the testimonies, particularly significant contemporary works are integrated into the journey.
