As part of his residency at the Cité internationale des arts, Czech poet Jan Škrob, recipient of the Jiří Orten 2019 Prize, will read extracts from his collection Réel brut at the Czech Centre.
In this book, his politically engaged poetry blends with intimate spiritual lyrical words, motives of love and post-apocalyptic visions where reality is integrated with fiction.
Jan Škrob is a great personality in contemporary Czech poetry. For his second collection, entitled Réel brut, he received this year the prize from Jiří Orten.
This prize is accompanied by a one-month creative residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, where he is currently working on the manuscript of his new book. This residency was supported by the Czech Centre in Paris and the Czech Literary Centre - CzechLit.
