In 2017, Frédéric Nauczyciel presented a video installation at the Chapelle at the Musée de Saint-Denis. The performance "La Peau vive, étude" is the live extension.
The artist invites performer D' de Kabal to film his tattoos on sight and to sample part of his personal history. Like a study in drawing, but here moving and always changing, the performance is reinvented every time. The space is inhabited by the sample of the performer's voice and breathing, creating a soundtrack made of body actions.
The film thus created is broadcasted at the end of the performance: the audience can superimpose the image of Kabal's presence on the set on the final filming. From the live image is born movement, dance: a plastic way of exposing oneself to the violence of the city.
Frédéric Nauczyciel (France) is Cité internationale des arts’ partner artist.
