How to tame the strangeness of the world? Acting on the failure of an overly rational approach, the exhibition is a journey that invites us to probe its mysteries. It proposes to discover fantastic realism, a major movement of the counter-culture of the 1960s, through the works of contemporary artists who question dominant knowledge and hybridize scientific and esoteric knowledge.
The exhibition presents an extensive and diverse body of work, included the work of artist-in-residency Vincent Cerudo, that updates this approach in the light of contemporary issues and technological and scientific advances. Extravagant, hermetic, sensual, the works summon the survivals of traditional, mythical or magical cultures, inviting us to probe the modified states of consciousness, the limits of our sensory perceptions, the hidden codes of nature and the still indecipherable laws that govern the cosmos.
Is it because they still retain a part of mystery, that these works make us more sensitive to the strangeness of the world?
